Truro & District Motor Club
50 Years of The Tregrehan Hillclimb Course
Situated on the outskirts of St Austell, Cornwall, this 600 yard hill sits in the grounds of what was once the home of Miss Carlyon, herself a keen motorsport competitor. The Truro & District Motor Club has use of this track now for 50 years. The open parklands afford the spectator many vantage points from which to witness the struggle between man and machine. Starting from a usually slippery startline, through an avenue of trees, round the very long challenging right-hander to the heart-stopping hairpin before the final short burst to the finish.

Over the past 50 years there have been various formats during the year including a period where Tregrehan was the scene for an early round of the ASWMC Hillclimb Championship(see, and it has not been unknown for the event to paused by the odd snow shower!  In mid July there was at one time a members only meeting, which was a favourite with the small numbers who attended,  since every driver had as many as eight runs up the hill instead of the customary four.

More often than not, the racing cars are joined by motorcycle and motorcycle-combination hillclimbers, making the whole event a varied day out for competitors and spectators alike.
